Redeemer of Souls<\/b><\/i>\u00a0is the 17th studio album by the English\u00a0heavy metal\u00a0band\u00a0Judas Priest, which was released on 8 July 2014. It is their first album without founding guitarist\u00a0K.\u00a0K. Downing, who quit the band in 2011 and was replaced by new guitarist\u00a0Richie Faulkner.<\/p>\n
The album sold around 32,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 6 on the\u00a0Billboard 200\u00a0chart, the band’s second highest charting position in the US. This marks the band’s first top 10 album debut in the US.\u00a0It has sold 110,000 copies in the US as of February 2016.<\/p>\n
Redeemer of Souls<\/i>\u00a0has been largely praised by critics and has been hailed as a return for the band, following the lackluster response to its previous album\u00a0Nostradamus<\/i>. Chad Bowar, reviewing for About.com, commented that new guitarist Richie Faulkner seemed to “energize” the band \u2013 and that even in his 60s, Halford still displayed ample vocal ability on the record.
