Charlie Brown Jr.<\/b>\u00a0was a\u00a0Brazilian\u00a0rock\u00a0band, from the city of\u00a0Santos,\u00a0S\u00e3o Paulo, whose main influences were\u00a0Sublime,\u00a0Bad Brains,\u00a0311,\u00a0Suicidal Tendencies,\u00a0Rage Against the Machine,\u00a0Red Hot Chili Peppers.<\/p>\r\nWhen Chor\u00e3o came to\u00a0Santos\u00a0at seventeen (after a difficult and somewhat traumatic childhood) he already had a strong interest in\u00a0skateboarding\u00a0and\u00a0rock music. From time to time he would stand in for a singer of a local\u00a0rock band\u00a0when the guy had to go to the bathroom during a show. A musician in another saw Chor\u00e3o performing during these bathroom breaks and invited him to join his band. When the band's bass player quit, Chor\u00e3o found Champignon, who was then twelve. Later on, Chor\u00e3o decided to start his own band, and invited Champignon and Pelado (Chor\u00e3o's friend from another local band), and then Marc\u00e3o and Thiago (a 5th member). The band would continue to have shows in the city without an official name until Chor\u00e3o crashed his car into a coconut shack that was named \"Charlie Brown\". And the \"Jr\", because they are children of new rock generations with Red Hot Chili Peppers and Raimundos .\r\n\r\nProducer\u00a0Rick Bonadio, whom Champignon knew, invited them to make a demo tape and he liked what he heard, and they were soon picked up by\u00a0Virgin Records. In\u00a01997, they released the debut album\u00a0Transpira\u00e7\u00e3o Cont\u00ednua Prolongada<\/i>\u00a0(\"Continuous, Long Transpiration\", a reference to hard work). Well received by the public, it remains as their biggest hit to date, and CBJ won a VMB (the Brazilian\u00a0VMAs) in the Breakthrough Artist category. In April 2005 members Champignon, Marc\u00e3o, and Pelado decided to leave the band, alleging 'artistic differences'. They were soon replaced by Heitor Vilela Gomes (currently on\u00a0CPM 22) on bass, Ping\u00fcim on drums and beat box, and former band member Thiago Castanho, who returned to play guitar. This new Charlie Brown Jr. formation is toured throughout Brazil and around some cities in the United States in July. On March 6, 2013, Chor\u00e3o, lead vocals was found dead in his apartment. His driver found him unconscious and immediately called for an ambulance. Once it arrived, paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene. The cause of death was reported as an overdose of cocaine.<\/sup>\u00a0Six months later, another member of the group, Champignon, was found dead in his apartment.
