They are considered one of the most influential bands in\u00a0Brazilian rock.\r\n\r\nThe band, named after\u00a0Snoopy's \"Red Baron\" strips, began in 1981, in\u00a0Rio de Janeiro, as a literal\u00a0garage band, when\u00a0<b>Maur\u00edcio<\/b>\u00a0Carvalho de\u00a0<b>Barros<\/b>\u00a0and Fl\u00e1vio Augusto Goffi Marquesini (<b>Guto Goffi<\/b>), both studying at Imaculada Concei\u00e7\u00e3o High School, got together to play\u00a0Rolling Stones\u00a0and\u00a0Led Zeppelin\u00a0at the former's parents' house.\u00a0Guitarist\u00a0<b>Roberto Frejat<\/b>\u00a0and\u00a0bassist\u00a0Andr\u00e9 Palmeira Cunha (<b>D\u00e9<\/b>) joined them, and the band began to look for a singer. One candidate was singer and guitarist\u00a0L\u00e9o Jaime\u00a0from\u00a0Goi\u00e1s, who turned the band down, considering the band \"too heavy\" for his taste.<sup id=\"cite_ref-1\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup>\u00a0Jaime suggested one of his colleagues at acting class, Agenor Miranda Ara\u00fajo Neto, more commonly known as\u00a0<b>Cazuza<\/b>, and noted that he was \"the son of Jo\u00e3o Ara\u00fajo\" - a reference that the\u00a0<i>bar\u00f5es<\/i>\u00a0missed, only later learning that Jo\u00e3o Ara\u00fajo was an executive at\u00a0Som Livre, one of Brazil's largest\u00a0record companies.\u00a0Cazuza\u00a0showed them some lyrics that he had already written, and Bar\u00e3o Vermelho, which had been a cover band until then, began writing their own songs.\r\n\r\nThey recorded the\u00a0LP\u00a0\"Bar\u00e3o Vermelho\" by Som Livre in only two days in 1982.
